Besides cash prizes and recognition in RWR for all placed in each category, win a chance to be read by an editor or a literary agent.

ANNUAL
HAUNTED WRITERS RETREAT

Each fall, the Valley of
the Sun Romance Writers take a haunted retreat,
usually at the Grand Hotel, a well known haunted resort in
Jerome, AZ,
and enjoy a weekend of paranormal thrills, creative
brainstorming,
tarot cards, astrology, divining, and relaxation on paranormal
themes.

THE
GLENDALE CHOCOLATE AFFAIRE
Each year
on the first weekend of February
Local and out of state romance authors autograph their books at this celebration of love and chocolate, in Murphy Park, NE corner of Glendale and 59th Avenue. Several writing workshops are also scheduled during the event, free of charge. Visit our booth at the NE corner of Murphy Park, in front of the Civic Center Building, across from the shuttle pick up. Buy a book and have it autographed as a souvenir. Books, like chocolate, make great Valentine's Day presents.

The Desert Dream Writers Conference, a regular event organized by our sister chapter, Desert Rose Romance Writers of America, receives our active support. TEMPE ART FESTIVAL

This festival gathers artists and food vendors in the town of Tempe which becomes a pedestrian town along Mill Avenue and the adjacent streets. The Romance authors used to autograph their books outside BORDERS BOOKS & MUSIC, at the corner of Mills and 7th Street. Since this store closed their doors in January 2009, however, this popular book signing is cancelled.
ARIZONA BOOK
FESTIVAL
The first Saturday of April (on hiatus in
2008 and 2009) May or may not resume
The Romance Writers usually have a booth and autograph their latest novels at this event in Phoenix each year, come for the books, the bargains, the food, the entertainment. Authors are speaking on several stages in the Carnegie park around the old Carnegie Library, downtown Phoenix, at 11th street and Jefferson.

used to sponsor a booth at this annual event.
